The 10-minute back-office check
How do you know? It’s the question I asked for thirty years at the bank, and it’s the one this page is built around.
The check is ten yes-or-no questions, about a minute each. Only tick yes if you could show someone how you know: a list, a report with initials on it, a date on the calendar.
Where the questions come from
Each section of the check comes from a Field Note.
Who can still get into the systems where money and client records live.
Keeping vendor setup and payment approval in different hands.
Ten minutes is not too long to wait.
Calling back before money goes to new bank details.
Every no is a place to start
The first look almost always turns up something. That isn’t a failure. It’s the check doing its job, and most of these take an afternoon to fix. If you’d like a second set of eyes, I’m glad to talk it through.
